A bit slow on the reportin' but here it goes.
2009 gigging for me started off on the 10th January with an epic night of fun at the first
Lunaria of the year with the very ace
Gallops in Tafod. This night was ace for a variety of reasons. Here are a few of them:
- Gallops were ace
- It was rammed
- I DJ'd
- I loved Love Gadgets Hate Gizmos who was on first
- ODG DJ'd and it was ace
- We danced til 3am
- The P-town cru were out in force.
- Jamie & Fidge provided an astonishing homoerotic light show for what seemed to last hours
The first big night of the year. Hope this sets the standard for 2009 fun times.
So the Gallops set was really good... from what I remember :). They are in a similar vein to Foals (who I rate highly despite being oxford toffs). Energetic spiky guitars with synth bleeps and beats. Great to get slayed to and throw yourself around like a tit. Which I did. While trying to take photos. Which is a pretty fruitless combination as you can imagine. I love taking my SLR to gigs. I find I can sometimes take good photos. See some by here now in a minute on
my flickr :) Although I do find my photography skills tend to be stifled somewhat by my inability to stop moving while bands are on and my constant failure to stay straight enough to work out how to use my camera for the whole evenin. I usually find that by the time the last band is on I am to ruined to a) work out what buttons to press and b) care.
I am sure that if it wasn't for these shortcomings in my personal abilities then I would be a professional photographer by now. Yes. I am sure of that.
Here's one that did come out ok..
And before I click save on this post, I will leave you with an epic video featuring these 2
performing their inaugural performance art piece known to their fans as 'The Homoerotic Lightshow'
